It has been a very difficult decision, however due to a number of factors we have decided to curtail importing Aoyue products for the foreseeable future

 

Due to the fact that Aoyue are changing their range of products it would mean that all new models we import would have to get the ANZ C tick electrical approval to comply with Australian regulations

Seeing the cost of this can be between $500 to $2500 per model we have therefore decided that because of the very small (& declining) market here in Australia for soldering products it's just not worth the cost of getting electrical approvals on new models, this would therefore make our equipment even less competitive.

We already have to pay 5%  import duty & 10% GST on all stock imported & that's not including shipping, local custom/port charges & transport from  Brisbane docks to  our company here in Hervey Bay (over 300 km’s by road)

 

On average we have to put at least 25 to 30% markup onto the cost price just to cover import & freight charges & that's not including any approval costs incurred  of which could add another 15-30% (subject to model & numbers sold)
Therefore there  is no way we can now compete with the likes of eBay which is a shame.

 

Aoyue have a minimum  price of which dealers should sell their equipment, however overseas dealers don’t seem to be abiding to these rules & are selling products at nearly cost price

Ironically because all Aoyue models have the CE approval mark (strict European approval) they can be sold in nearly every country in the world except Australia & New Zealand!!!

 

Maybe if (or when) Australia decides to adopt the worldwide electrical approval standards it would then allow small companies like ours to at least try & make a living!!

 

The recent  increases in shipping charges from Auspost  hasn’t helped either, It now costs us a minimum of $6.60 just to post a small item such as a $10 heater element & a re-work station can cost a minimum of $25 to post!!!

The government say's support Austrian businesses, however they don't make it very easy for a small business like  ours!!

Please be assured that Ludatronics will not cease trading & will be diversifying into other projects

We will still be supporting & supplying Aoyue spares for the foreseeable future.
